The drop-in cancer centre’s Spring clean in March was a huge success thanks to a combined effort from a number of generous businesses who gave up their time to help us give the centre a make over. We were thankful to all different types of business from across the region who contributed to creating a brighter environment for our service users to enjoy when they visit.
Our Spring Clean Heroes
Starting with the generous donation of a skip from Dainty Skips, the skip was soon filled thanks to the team from JLR who helped us clear the building of waste and other materials. We hadn’t realised how much waste materials and rubbish we had accumulated so the volunteers from JLR had a big job to undertake. Once the unwanted items had been cleared, more volunteers were brought in for the next part of the Spring clean which was to paint various parts of the drop-in cancer centre. Office fit out and refurbishment company, Overbury, donated 30 tins of paint to help us get the job done which was utilised by volunteers from Connect Screwfix who used the paint and other materials donated by InHealth (who provide our lung van every month) to paint the outside of the building.
In the meantime, building service specialists, Briggs and Forrester sent a team of volunteers to spruce up our garden furniture. They took on the challenge of sanding down and then painting the picnic tables and
chairs in the grass area ready for Summer. Leah and Craig from Hubtel IT came along and painted the planters in the car park area ready for new flowers and plants to be planted in them. Finally in our Spring Clean, we had Lark and Larks come in and install a new work surface/island in the kitchen area so that out Time4Teens, Time4Young Adults and the nutrition group have somewhere to use for their sessions. Overall, it was a fantastic effort by some very generous companies to help make a difference here at the drop-in cancer centre. We’ve had some really positive comments from visitors and service users about how the centre looked and how successful the Spring clean has been. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of the businesses and their staff who came along and helped get the job done. It has made such a difference and resulted in a much brighter and more positive environment for our service users to enjoy when they come in to see us.
