Since the boxing match, my schedule has been non-stop, with one event rolling into the next. But amidst the hustle and bustle, as I take a moment to reflect on the boxing match, I’m filled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude. The David Wilson Homes Charity boxing event at the ICC in Birmingham on the 8th of September 2023 wasn’t just another event on my calendar; Beyond the punches and rounds, it was an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Help Harry Help Others, amplifying the resilience and spirit of our service users and Harry.
I’m incredibly thankful to David Wilson Homes for funding this journey. Their generosity allowed me to receive top-notch training from the Combat Sports Centre in Solihull. Every punch, every move, every drop of sweat was a step closer to the ring, and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my official training sponsors, Foundry Gym Chelmsley Wood Paul Taylor and Tel Group. Their belief in me pushed me to give it my all, intensifying my training and showcasing my commitment to raise money and awareness.
The week leading up to the event was one of the most challenging times. I had to shed weight, master intricate boxing techniques, and boost my fitness levels. But every time I felt like giving up, I thought of Harry and our service users. Their strength, their battles, and their stories fuelled my determination.
A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who stood by me, cheered, and generously donated. The total raised will be split between HHHO and Bham Phab Camps. We will share both the total that’s raised and the amount that we receive as soon as DWH get the amount confirmed! This wasn’t just my journey; it was a collective effort. Your belief and encouragement have made all the difference, and I’m deeply grateful for the impact we’ve made together for a cause so dear to us.
