HHHO Support NHS With Hosting First Stoma Support Group

Earlier in the year HHHO was approached by Rebecca Billingsley, lead colorectal nurse,  about work she was doing with other bowel cancer specialist charities including Mike Jameson from IA and John Baden from Holly Trust re their hopes to put on a support group for people with Stoma’s.

With a great space for such an event and so much wrap around support that HHHO can offer from our Drop In Cancer Support Centre, we were delighted to be asked to be a part of it.

The first event was a great success with a big turn out. Patients benefitted from an informal gathering where they had presentations from Macmillan dietician, a CNS nurse, HHHO counsellors and patient experts who shared their experiences.

Georgie Moseley said, “It was our priviledge to offer space and support with organising such an important event that undoubtedly enabled patients to walk away knowing they are not alone. Having a stoma brings such change to people’s lives emotionally and practically and HHHO will always do its upmost to support individuals going through such change. Rebecca and her team, The Holly Trust and the IA do incredible work and we were pleased to collaborate with them to offer this vital support”.
