Lookers celebrates a decade of fuelling support for Help Harry Help Others charity
Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham today pledged renewed support for leading local cancer charity Help Harry Help Others after marking more a decade of partnership, shared fundraising initiatives and commitment to helping drive its vital local services.
Since it was founded in 2011, Help Harry Help Others has directly helped hundreds of cancer patients and their families across the Birmingham and Solihull areas, providing vital support via it’s Drop In Support Centre which now supports close to 900 families. The centre offers emotional support, counselling, housing & benefits advice, debt & financial advice, holistic therapies, a coaching and mentoring service, along with various cancer specific groups like Time4teens for young people and men matters for men, plus a range of support groups. They also facilitate respite renovations.
Help Harry Help Others was founded by local woman Georgie Moseley in memory of her 11-year-old son Harry who lost his battle with an inoperable brain tumour in 2011 and since his death the charity has been working hard to help and support patients and families in need.
Reliant on donations and the support of local companies, Help Harry Help Others is also committed to funding vital research into brain tumours, providing small and large grants for those that are undertaking research into the devasting condition.
This year marks a decade of ongoing support for the charity by Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham which has donated the use of a new car every year since it was founded, ensuring that it can continue to deliver essential services to those who cannot make it into the centre.
Georgie and the team are recently delighted to get the keys to a new, spacious Vauxhall Crossland which has been branded with the Help Harry Help Others logo so it can be easily recognised around the community, raising awareness of its services.
Alan Collins, General Manager of Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham, said:
“Since it was founded, we have been proud and humbled to support Georgie and all the Help Harry Help Others team, providing safe and reliable transport to keep Georgie and the team moving and firmly connected to the local community.
“Help Harry Help Others supports a large and expansive area across Birmingham and Solihull, so it is crucial that it has the transport it needs to reach as many as people as possible. We’re privileged to continue to provide support once again this year and for many years to come.”
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the charity, like many others, has been affected by a downturn in donations. The impact of restrictions also meant charity fundraising events were impacted.
Georgie Moseley, Founder and CEO of Help Harry Help Others, said:
“At Help Harry Help Others, we are so grateful for Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham’s continued support and for providing a vehicle which helps us to reach as many people as we can.
A safe and reliable set of wheels is vital to our operations, the car is a lifeline for the ever fluctuating amount of clients that need a home visit / people who require mobile support from our charity and without it they would be left stranded and alone. The vehicle also helped during the pandemic where I implemented a shopping service for those most vulnerable. Finally, it makes a huge contribution to our fundraising as without a fundraising / events team it enables me to get around to many meetings and events to keep those all-important pennies coming in.
Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham also goes the extra mile for us every year in terms of servicing, ensuring we are the road and helping us to raise essential funds to keep Harry’s legacy alive through the support we offer.
Lookers Vauxhall Birmingham has been there since the beginning of Help Harry Help Others as a valued partner, and we look forward to continuing to work together to offer support to those dealing with the life-changing circumstances cancer inflicts.”
