Solihull based civil engineering company, MV Kelly, took part in a charity fundraising walk around the Isle of Wight recently and Georgie took up the challenge to join them on the two day trip in May. The whole event was organised to raise funds for five charities and Help Harry Help Others was one of the charities to benefit from their fundraising exploits. The aim was to raise £250,000 for the charities who also included Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Andy’s Man Club, Crohn’s and Colitis UK and ROSY Fund.
The challenge that MV Kelly had set themselves was to walk around the circumference of the Isle of Wight in just two days which is a total of 66 miles and Georgie was more than prepared to take on the challenge
and join the staff on their challenging walk. Along with the elements plus some terrain that proved to be a bit rugged, this was no walk in the park but Georgie and the MV Kelly team managed to complete the challenge in the timescale that they had set. Perhaps the biggest achievement of all however is that, at the time of writing, the £250,000 target has been surpassed. With the total at £305,710 it is at 122% of the original target. If you would like to add to the total, you can donate here on the MV Kelly Just Giving page.
Speaking about the event and her involvement in the 66 mile walk, Georgie said:
“It was a fabulous experience to take part in the walk around the Isle of Wight with the staff of MV Kelly. It was challenging and hard going but such an achievement and everyone involved has had a brilliant time. Most importantly, we at HHHO are so thankful for all the money that has been raised and the generosity of everyone who have donated money to help support not only us providing support for anyone affected by cancer in Birmingham, Solihull and the West Midlands but also to support the other charities involved. All the efforts of the staff really means a lot to us and it will make a huge difference to our service users and the services we provide.”
